The United States Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will visit Papua New Guinea in the coming days on behalf of US President Joe Biden who canceled his trip in order to focus on debt limit talks in Washington.

Prime Minister Hon James Marape in a press conference today has made the latest announcement after receiving a call from the U.S President Joe Biden following his sincere apology for not making the visit possible.

However U.S. President Joe Biden will arrange another summit of Pacific island leaders later in September, after the disappointment caused by the cancellation of his visit.

PM Marape accepted his apologies and looks forward to welcoming US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken

Meanwhile, the Forum for Indo-Pacific Island Cooperation (FIPIC) will continue as planned.

Both the Prime Minister of India and the Secretary of State have confirmed that they would come on Sunday, May 21, along with the other Pacific Island leaders.
