The Joint Supervisory Body (JSB) Meeting, held at the APEC Haus in Ela Beach, Port Moresby, concluded with a resounding commitment to peaceful dialogue and consultation as the preferred approach to addressing the complex issue of Bougainville’s independence.

Elected leaders from participating governments convened to reaffirm their dedication to upholding the principles of the Bougainville Peace Agreement of 2001.

The leaders expressed their profound appreciation for the enduring peace that has prevailed between their respective nations and peoples, largely facilitated by the Bougainville Peace Agreement. Rooted in the rich traditions of Melanesian conflict resolution, the leaders emphasized the significance of transparent dialogue and consultation in reaching a lasting and peaceful resolution.
