(L-R): CPAPNG President Mr James P. Gore, and DICT Secretary Mr Steven Matainaho signing the MoU for ICT Partnership at DICT office, Tisa Ruma, Port Moresby on Friday 1st May, 2026

The Department of Information and Communications Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Certified Practising Accountants of Papua New Guinea (CPAPNG) on Friday 1st May, focused on improving transparency, efficiency, and service delivery through advanced ICT solutions.

CPAPNG President James P. Gore said the collaboration will modernise core operations while aligning with national ICT standards, ensuring secure, reliable, and locally optimised systems that uphold good governance and organisational integrity.

Key initiatives under the MOU include the design and deployment of a secure biometric electronic voting platform for CPAPNG elections, automation of membership enrolment and renewal processes, seamless registration for conferences and CPD activities, and upgrades to CPAPNG’s ICT infrastructure to improve security and scalability.

“We look forward to delivering practical, secure, and user‑friendly digital services that enhance member engagement and strengthen governance processes,” Gore said.

DICT Secretary Steven Matainaho, at the signing MoU signing, urged wider stakeholders to see the agreement as a model for how existing infrastructure and national initiatives can be leveraged to drive transformation.

“Let’s look at how we can use the infrastructure that we have. Let’s use the initiative shown by the CPAPNG. All it takes is just one example. We are more than happy to look at how we can partner—Digital Public Infrastructure reset,” Matainaho said.

The collaboration will be guided by a joint project plan with agreed milestones, including system design, pilot deployment, user training, and full rollout. Both CPAPNG and DICT will appoint coordinators and hold regular review meetings to track progress and ensure outcomes remain aligned with member needs and national ICT requirements.
