The Governor- General   Grand Chief Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae has executed on behalf of the State, a contract for the upgrading and sealing of Halimbu to Koroba section of the Highlands Highway in Hela Province.

The upgrading and sealing work from Halimbu to Koroba covers 28kms of the Highlands Highway.

The contract is valued at K88, 894, 105. 63 inclusive of GST and provisional sum and will be wholly funded by the State.

The National Executive Council, (NEC) has approved the awarding of the contract to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (PNG) Ltd. The NEC has also approved for 40% of the total contract value to be subcontracted to local contractors and suppliers of material, plant, equipment and materials, and for the project to be considered under a Tax Credit Scheme should funding be an issue.
