Endorsed Policies

PNG Digital Transformation Policy 2020

The Government seeks to harness ICT to transform public administration processes, culture, and citizen experiences. The PNG Department of Information and Communication Technology identified as the lead agency aims to facilitate this transformation journey through a whole-of-government approach and with a well-defined Government Technology Stack.

National Cyber Security Policy 2021

This National Cyber Security Policy sets out the Government’s approach towards addressing the ever-changing and dynamic cyber security risks and challenges. This Policy defines the Government’s vision, goals, objectives, evolving governance, and principles to guide the development of relevant strategies and action plans on minimising cyber security risks.

National ICT Policy 2008

The National ICT Policy 2008, informed the National ICT Act of 2009. This Policy aims to establish an enabling legal framework to manage spectrum resources, and universal access services, and ultimately facilitate effective competition within the telecommunication and broadcasting space. The National ICT Authority was consequentially established by the Informed National ICT Act 2009 and now serves as the ICT Sector Regulator.

DICT GESI Policy 2023

This GESI Policy expands on the provision of the National Public Service GESI Policy and provides a guide for the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) by ensuring that the internal GESI values and principles of RESPECT, EQUITY AND DIVERSITY are embedded into the department’s core values, mission and mandate. These principles will be adopted into DICT’s functions including long and short-term strategic plan and objectives.

Government Cloud Policy 2023

The policy aims to leverage cloud technologies to enhance service delivery, reduce costs, and improve efficiency in the public sector. The policy is aligned with the government's Digital Transformation Policy and the Digital Government Act 2022, which set the stage for modernizing the public sector through the use of digital technologies.

National Media Development Policy 2024

This policy aims to leverage media for development by promoting democracy, good governance, human rights, and socio-economic growth while addressing declining journalism standards, its impact on development, uncoordinated government information services, and modern media trends.
