Papua New Guinea Telecommunications Blueprint 2026
At the 2025 Australia–Papua New Guinea Ministerial Forum, ministers committed to improving internet access and affordability across Papua New Guinea. As part of this commitment, PNG and Australia agreed to establish a baseline assessment of Papua New Guinea’s telecommunications sector.
The Telecommunications Blueprint, developed from this initiative, provides a roadmap for a more connected and digitally enabled Papua New Guinea. If implemented, it will significantly improve digital connectivity coverage, affordability, and adoption nationwide, while supporting the country’s broader economic and social development goals.
In the Communiqué signed at the 2026 Australia–Papua New Guinea Ministerial Forum in Port Moresby on 20 October 2026, both governments agreed to publicly release the Telecommunications Blueprint.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea is the custodian of the Telecommunications Blueprint.
