The Bill is intended to protect individual privacy, improve accountability among organizations handling data and support secure digital government and economic development. It addresses individual data rights, organizational obligations, data security and breach notification, government data sharing, cross-border transfers, digital identity, sovereign hosting and the responsible use of automated and artificial intelligence systems.

Draf Cyber Security Bill 2026

The Bill addresses national cybersecurity governance, cyber incident reporting and response, child online safety, platform responsibilities, cybercrime investigation and digital evidence, emergency powers, and the regulation of cybersecurity service providers. It also proposes that NICTA initially perform the functions of the National Cybersecurity Authority until a separate Authority is established.

The Draft Verifiable Credentials Bill 2026 establishes a legal framework for issuing, verifying, and managing trusted digital credentials. It promotes secure digital identity, protects personal information, enables interoperability across government and private sectors, and supports efficient, reliable, and trusted digital service delivery throughout Papua New Guinea.
