Friday 27th February, 2025

The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) has successfully concluded its three-month internship program on Friday 27th February, which ran from November 2025 to February 2026.

A total of 12 new graduates from various tertiary institutions across the country participated as interns and On-the-Job Trainees (OJTs). They were awarded certificates of completion along with recommendations recognizing their contributions and achievements during the program.

In addition, seven OJTs undertook a six-week practical training placement within the Department, gaining valuable workplace exposure.

The internship program was designed to provide fresh graduates with hands-on experience, practical skills, and broader knowledge of the ICT sector. Participants contributed to DICT’s ongoing projects and service delivery initiatives, while also taking part in major ICT events such as the Digital Transformation Summit 2025 and several policy workshops.

Throughout the program, interns rotated across different branches of the Department, enabling them to understand the core functions of each division and how they collectively support the organization’s operations.

DICT Corporate Services Director, Mr. Maisen Windu, encouraged the interns to be proactive and self-reliant in their career journeys.

“My challenge to you is to build something for yourself and make yourself useful in society, and not expect people to spoon-feed you,” Mr. Windu said.

The Department’s Human Resource Manager, Mr. Billy Seri, commended the interns for their valuable contributions and expressed appreciation to staff and management for their support in facilitating the program.

“The program is about empowerment, networking, and building confidence in workplace settings. Since its inception in 2021, we have continued to focus on upskilling recent graduates. Among them were seven OJTs who took part in this occasion,” Mr. Seri said.

He added that many graduates who have participated in the program have since progressed within the ICT sector and beyond.

The Department plans to continue the program this year, with the possibility of expanding the quota as it prepares for a major restructure.
