Acting Minister for Information and Communications Technology Hon. Peter Tsiamalili Jr announced last week as the country celebrated it’s independence that Mr. Russell Woruba, Deputy Secretary for Digital Government and Information Delivery at the Department of Information and Communications Technology, has been accepted to study for a PhD in Digital Government at the University of Information Technology and Management in Poland.
“He is the first Papua New Guinean to take on this level of study in Digital Government,” Tsiamalili said.
“His research will focus on Digital Public Infrastructure, which will help make government services more open, efficient, and easier for people to access.”
The Acting ICT Minister added that it is not only a personal achievement for Mr. Woruba and his family but also a step forward for our country.
“His knowledge will support the goals of the Digital Government Act 2022, the Digital Transformation Policy 2020, and the National Cybersecurity Policy 2021.”
“On behalf of the Government, I congratulate Mr. Woruba and thank him for his service to the nation. I encourage our young people to be inspired by his example.”
Going into the next 50 years, Tsiamalili stated that the government will continue to invest in people so that Papua New Guinea grows with confidence in the digital world.
