Minister for Information and Communications Technology, Hon. Timothy Masiu announced that the government through the Department of Information and Communications Technology is set to undertake a comprehensive Whole-of-Government ICT Audit beginning in the third quarter of 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen digital public service delivery and enhance cybersecurity resilience.
“This audit, by DICT will assess public bodies’ compliance with Cabinet-endorsed ICT Policies and Gazetted Technical Standards under the Digital Government Act 2022,” Minister Masiu stated.
The ICT Minister said this review, overseen by the Public Service ICT Audit Committee, will focus on the effectiveness and security of government digital infrastructure and ensure that public bodies adhere to mandated standards, including:
- The Government Technology Stack
- Domain Name Standards
- Email Standards
- Website Standards
- Cybersecurity Standards
“These standards are not optional. They form part of the regulatory framework designed to enforce accountability, security, and interoperability across government digital systems,” Minister Masiu explained.
The audit will also scrutinize ICT organizational structures, internal policies, risk assessments, and systems used by or offering services to public bodies.
Minister Masiu urged all public entities to fully cooperate by granting access to systems, submitting requested documentation, and supporting follow-up assessments. Findings from the audit will be presented to Cabinet and Parliament, with enforcement measures expected from the Public Service ICT Steering Committee to ensure compliance.
